Instrumentation basics
You don’t need a complex setup. Fire a completion event when a reader reaches the end of a chapter page or a PDF bookmark. Tag each event with the chapter key. In your ESP, add a hidden field for source (LP, paid, partner) and carry it into CRM. Now you can answer simple questions with confidence.
Questions your dashboard should answer
- Which source creates the most replies per 100 opt‑ins?
- Do readers who finish the objections chapter reply at a higher rate?
- How much faster do “chapter‑primed” opportunities close?
What to change when numbers dip
If first‑chapter completion is low, rewrite your opener in the reader’s words. If objections‑chapter completion is low, shorten it and add a story. If replies sag, change the question in Email 2 so it’s easier to answer in one line.
North‑star metrics by stage
- Acquisition: LP conversion (unique → confirmed email).
- Engagement: first‑chapter and objections‑chapter completion.
- Intent: reply in 7 days; meetings per 100 replies.
- Revenue: pipeline created; time‑to‑close vs baseline.
Weekly review ritual
- Read five replies and tag themes. Update FAQs if themes repeat.
- Spot chapters with low completion and adjust openers and length.
- Share one sentence with sales: the line that earned most replies.
